CHASITY HENRY
LEAD ASSOCIATE
Chasity Henry is our lead associate focused on privacy law, cybersecurity, and technology transactions. She is a litigation and transactional attorney representing clients in civil disputes, intellectual property, business, technology, and entertainment matters.
As a native Houstonian, Chasity knew she wanted to join the elite 5% of Black legal professionals early on. Her interest in the law led Attorney Henry to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College, where she majored in Political Science and minored in Spanish on a pre-law track. As an undergraduate student at the number one HBCU, Attorney Henry was committed to social justice as she served as the Political Action Co-Chair for Spelman’s Chapter of the NAACP. Additionally, Attorney Henry volunteered weekly to assist marginalized communities in the West End area of Atlanta.
Prior to entering law school, Attorney Henry gained experience in the legal field, working as a legal assistant and legal intern for boutique firms. These positions garnered her experience in drafting legal documents and advocating for clients during difficult situations.
During her tenure at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Attorney Henry maintained academic excellence, earning multiple CALI Awards and graduating in the top 3%. Outside of her academic career, Attorney Henry was a Legal Writing Advisor and Lead Articles Editor for the Thurgood Marshall Law Review, where she showcased her talent for efficient legal research and writing in her published article, Knot Today: A Look at Hair Discrimination in the Workplace & Schools. Additionally, Attorney Henry served as a Student Attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to indigent individuals in the Harris County area.
After earning her Juris Doctorate a semester early in December 2021, Attorney Henry went on to sit for the February 2022 Uniform Bar Exam (UBE). Attorney Henry successfully passed the exam on the first try, scoring high enough to be eligible to practice in all UBE jurisdictions.
Immediately after becoming licensed in Texas, Attorney Henry joined The Devenere Law Collective working on civil disputes, estate, and probate matters, DTPA claims, business governance, and family law matters. With a passion for education and a keen interest in privacy, Attorney Henry re-enrolled in school, earning her Master of Laws in Privacy Law & Cybersecurity from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in May 2023. Her education at USC was focused on current privacy regulations, internet law, intellectual property, and entertainment law. In addition to her master’s degree, she also earned a Certificate in Technology and Entrepreneurship Law.
While a full-time student at the University of Southern California and associate at the firm, Attorney Henry passed the February 2023 California Bar Exam. She hopes to be sworn into the State Bar of California by the end of 2023 to begin navigating the legal market across state lines.
With her strong legal acumen, professionalism, and commitment to innovative client service, Attorney Henry is a valuable asset to The Devenere Law Collective. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the law make her a reputable legal professional and an essential member of the firm’s legal team.
